How is Scouting Funded?
Delivering Scouting takes a partnership of programs and funding from our families, units with community partners, and the Grand Canyon Council. Camping facilities, maintenance, programs, recruitment materials, training, and year-round staff support are some of the responsibilities and costs we work to fund.
In the Grand Canyon Council, we are proud to share that 84% of our total expenses directly support the local program!
- Fundraising accounts for 8% of our expenses, much of that is the cost of prizes and incentives given to our youth for participating in our annual popcorn and camp card fundraisers
- Management expenses are 7% of our budget
- Only 1% of our council expenses are paid to the National Council Boy Scouts of America for various services and support. The other 99% is used locally for our communities!
There are many sources of income to help pay these expenses (budgeted to be nearly $4.75 million in 2020).
- Our camping and activity revenue is about 35% of our income
- Our annual Popcorn and Camp Card product Sales and money earned for the sale of trading post items are about 15% of our revenue
- The rest is supported by sponsorships and gifts
- Friends of Scouting is our largest financial gift campaign of the year and provides about 25% of our total revenue.

Our Scout unit is committed to helping support the Grand Canyon Council 2021 Friends of Scouting.
We invite you to help support Scouting and our critical mission today. Gifts can be made as a one-time donation or monthly recurring gifts. Donors who provide recurring gifts of $19.93 per month or more will be recognized as a member of our 1993 Society. The 1993 Society commemorates the year the original Grand Canyon Council and the Theodore Roosevelt Council merged to form what we know today as the Grand Canyon Council.
- 1993 Society Bronze members donate $19.93 monthly ($239.16 annually)
- 1993 Society Silver members donate $66.43 monthly ($797.16 annually)
- 1993 Society Gold members donate $166.09 annually ($1,993.08 annually)
